Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently unveiled plans to integrate XRP and Ripple USD into the Cardano ecosystem. This integration will focus on three key areas: wallet support, a decentralized finance (DeFi) execution layer, and a standardized onboarding model for Ripple USD. The Lace wallet will support XRP, providing improved emergency support. A DeFi layer leveraging Midnight Cardano will allow for easy deployment of XRP smart contracts without modifying the XRP Ledger. Furthermore, Cardano aims to onboard XRP-related projects, such as Flair, into its banking system. For Ripple USD, the focus is on a standardized, self-serve listing model similar to Coinbase's Rosetta, aiming for scalability and reduced integration complexity. This approach will enable Ripple USD to deploy across multiple ecosystems without requiring bespoke integrations for each. Hoskinson emphasized the importance of open standards due to the differing expertise of both teams in their respective architectures. Cardano will initiate technical integrations before engaging in commercial negotiations, reflecting a proactive approach to expansion. The integration strategy prioritizes user access, application deployment, and liquidity across both XRP and Ripple USD.
