PayPal’s Crypto Payments: 100+ Tokens, Global E-commerce Revolution
PayPal has launched “Pay with Crypto,” a feature enabling US merchants to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins like USDT and USDC. This integration streamlines international transactions by converting crypto payments instantly into US dollars or PayPal’s stablecoin, PYUSD, eliminating the need for merchants to manage crypto wallets or handle price volatility. The service boasts a competitive 0.99% transaction fee, significantly lower than traditional credit card processing fees (often exceeding 2%). PayPal CEO Alex Chriss highlights the feature’s potential to tap into a $3 trillion crypto market and over 650 million global crypto users, facilitating global growth by connecting merchants with a wider buyer base. Merchants can accept payments from popular wallets such as MetaMask, Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance. Furthermore, the platform incentivizes merchants to hold PYUSD balances by offering up to 4% annual rewards, adding an investment aspect to the payment system.
